GOLDEN BAY CEMENT, Eastport – Auckland, New Zealand
Cement flat storage hall with a storage capacity of 25000 t
Equiped with four IBAU Screw pumps each with a discharge capacity of 175 t/h, one IBAU Batch-type mixer IB-M 6000 with a mixing capacity of 90 t/h and three truck bulk loading stations the Golden Bay Cement’s new Eastport bulk storage and distribution centre on the Auckland waterfront is fully operational since February 2010, so that the former Wynyard depot was decommissioned.
The new facility comprises one low-profile bulk storage facility, which is specifically engineered and architecturally designed and which is linked to a new distribution center at nearby Plumer Street. The storage facility has a capacity of 25000 tons, doubling the former depot capacity and providing an opportunity with deep water port access.
The 18 m tall bulk storage facility is 90 m long and 30 m wide.
The entire floor area is equipped with inclined aeration pads that have an air-permeable fabric on the upper side. The horizontal design of the storage facility minimizes the disruption of views for the community living and working in downtown Auckland. On the other hand, the low-profile building was also arising from the installation’s location on reclaimed land, to minimize piling and other expensive deep foundations.
The distribution center comprises a battery of ten steel silos; six are primarily for feeding three truck loading lanes, while four are primarily for the storage of different components to be used in the integrated blending plant to produce different types of cement. The fully automated cement terminal has been designed to minimize noise and dust nuisance.
